This was another
quote a heard on the radio whilst driving to work last week, and it was the
first few words which resounded in my mind.
‘We live in
deeds not years’
How many times
have it told myself that a life should have meaning. I want to make a mark, to
have made a difference. Not to simply seek happiness in all its simple
superficiality but to gain deep happiness as a side effect to finding meaning
in how I live.
I guess those
with children feel a sense of this every day, when someone else depends on you
and gives you a reason beyond yourself to be the best you can be. But I am
talking deeper than this, beyond the realms of your immediate surroundings, an
innate sense that of being the best you can be.
Happiness is
important, it’s what we all strive for and I truly believe this should be the
case. But my question is how we seek
this happiness. A selfish act? At the cost of others? Of course not. Happiness
as a by-product through achieving those things you love on a greater holistic
level is what I’m talking about, happiness not simply sought for its own sake.
A deeper sense of wellbeing.
Last Friday it
was my 29th birthday. A birthday always gives rise to reflection.
Where was I this time a year ago? Where do I want to be this time next year? In
was an interesting thought process. I haven’t got all the answers yet, but I
know I am on the right track to finding them, finding who I really am and
ultimately finding happiness.
What is a Mantra for Monday?
Silent Sunday no.20: A little snap shot to sum up my birthday meal; a time for food, family
and sangria!
