Mantra for Monday no. 51
Today's mantra was pretty much a given after the events of last week. I think it's safe to say I had a bit of a reality check and I may have learnt a few things in the process.
It's easy to be lulled into false sense of security in day to day life, to think the 'good' in people and not have a back up in place to protect yourself.
That was me.
However, when your property is stolen from you and you realise that your back up system was not in place, your insurances wont pay out and weeks and months of work may have been lost....like it or not that's a pretty big wake up call. You cannot ignore it and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
There are two ways of looking at such a scenario:
1- you get angry at the 'bad' people in the world, you dwell on the loss, you berate yourself for the mistakes you made, your carry where you left off but resent the upset to the course of your life.
2- you accept the situation, you recognise your mistakes and learn from them, you take the opportunity as a moment to stop and pause and re-consider the direction before continuing on the journey.
I chose the latter. I chose to embrace the adversity and what it had to teach me. I took the time to appreciate the thought that 'what if that happened another year down the line, how much more would I have lost'. I have used this opportunity to re-address the situation and consciously consider what I choose to renew and replace.
I am at crossroads in my life as I leave the safety net of my job to forge ahead with something new... a time of new beginnings, the unknown, bewilderment and excitement. Though of course I wish it had come in a less drastic guise, maybe I really needed that little education.
